Women's Wear Daily magazine and
W magazine. In 2005, she landed an internship at
Teen Vogue in Los Angeles. While working in their office, she was paired with another intern,
Lauren Conrad. The girls became good friends and
Whitney ended up starring as a lead character on the
MTV reality show
The Hills for four seasons. During the first two seasons of the show, she remained an intern at
Teen Vogue, but was then promoted to the position of "
Fashion Contributor' in the same company. Her promotion was featured on
The Hills second-season finale. The show followed her to
New York where she was interviewed at
Vogue headquarters. The competition was tough, as
Whitney had to compete with an acquaintance of hers,
Emily Weiss, who had previously appeared on the show as an intern visiting from
New York.
In 2007,
Whitney decided to leave
Teen Vogue for
Peoples Revolution, a PR firm heavily involved in the fashion world. Owned by
Kelly Cutrone,
Peoples Revolution has offices in
New York, Los Angeles and Paris. As
Whitney was working at
L.A. Fashion week, her good friend
Lauren offered her help, and at the end of the episode was offered a position at
Peoples Revolution, which she accepted. In March 2008,
Whitney debuted her clothing line of cocktail and party wear called
Eve & A.
In the summer of 2008,
Whitney met
Jay, an Australian musician, while in
New York with
Lauren for work. A short while after,
Whitney was awarded an interview with fashion label
Diane von Furstenberg for her efforts at
Peoples Revolution. She was hired and said her goodbyes to
Lauren and
The Hills before relocating to
New York. Her job at
DVF has been featured extensively on her own reality show
The City. On April 13, 2009, it was announced that
Whitney had quit
DVF and has since returned to
Peoples Revolution.
